Arlington Street Church, Unitarian Universalist. Gathered in Love and Service for Justice and Peace. 351 Boylston Street, Boston, MA

Welcome to Family Ministry

During the worship service, children of all ages are invited to join the Family Ministry team for children's joys and sorrows and a lesson/activity from the Unitarian Universalist Tapestry of Faith "Miracles" curriculum. We will leave the sanctuary during the first hymn to gather in the Hunnewell Chapel (just through the leather door to the right of the pulpit). Parents and caregivers are welcome (but not required) to join in. All will return to the sanctuary for the final hymn.

If you have arrived with a baby who becomes restless, there's a nursery/playroom with the service piped in for your listening pleasure. Go through the leather door to the right of the pulpit, cross through the chapel, and go through the first set of doors. The nursery is on your left before the glass doors and the stairs. If you'd like to stay in the service, our child care team is happy take your littles to play in the nursery!

Volunteers Wanted

Do you love babies and small children? Then we need you! We are looking for folks who would be willing to help out in the nursery on Sunday mornings, to give our young parents a short respite during the service. For safety's sake, all volunteers will need to be CORI checked and have gotten a flu vaccine. If you are interested, please contact us at office@ascboston.org. Thanks!

Principles & Sources

Principles:

•  The inherent worth and dignity of every being;

•  Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

•  Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

•  A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

•  The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;

•  The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;

•  Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

Sources:

•  Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life;

•  Words and deeds of prophetic women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love;

•  Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life;

•  Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves;

•  Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit;

•  Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.

There are many way to learn about our faith in action. Stories are one of them. Here are some stories that our Religious Educator has shared in our sanctuary on Sunday morning during our worship service.

Family Ministry Committee / Helping Out!

The committee meets monthly and is made up of parents, friends, and those interested in the spiritual development of children. Please refer to the calendar on this website! All meetings are open, and all are welcome.

Would you like to share a bit of your time with the children and youth at Arlington Street Church? This could be a one time sing-a-long, a history lesson about the church, a conversation about a rally that is coming up, or just being another helping hand on Sunday morning.

If interested, please contact office@ASCBoston.org.
